Reddit Shuts Down GirlsDoPorn Fan Subreddit

CYBERSPACE — Following federal sex trafficking charges against the owner and three employees of the GirlsDoPorn website, Reddit has banned r/girlsdoporn, the fan subreddit devoted to the site.

The subreddit boasted almost 100K subscribers, who shared clips, links, analysis, fan requests and commentary about the now disgraced site, which supposedly featured POV gonzo scenes with “amateurs.” The FBI and dozens of former models, however, allege that site owner Michael Pratt, key male talent Andre “Dre” Garcia and the others conspired to lie and deceive about how the videos would be distributed.

The r/girlsdoporn began around 2013, four years after Pratt launched the site and coinciding with a spike in traffic and interest surrounding the true identity of some of the models. Two models were identified in 2014 as Miss Teen USA contestants, attracting mainstream attention.

Reporter Samantha Cole, who covers adult industry issues for Vice’s tech vertical Motherboard, wrote today that “Reddit was monitoring r/girlsdoporn for about a week — and after Motherboard inquired about the status of the subreddit, the platform took action and banned it altogether.”

According to Cole, “Before the ban, r/girlsdoporn moderators tried to take the fate of the sub into their own hands, by removing almost all of the posts and announcing that the sub would go on hiatus until further notice.”

Pornhub recently deactivated its official GirlsDoPorn channel; however, dozens of unofficial videos, clips and compilations remain on the site.
